The namesake of Riley Creek - Sea Captain James Riley - will be in Bluffton for Sunday's GOBA actitives. He will talk about his experiences, which include surveying Riley Creek and traveling across the globe.
His talk, open to the public, is at 5 p.m., either outdoors in GOBAville, along Rosenberger Drive and Elm Street, or in case of rain, in Marbeck Center. (Captain Riley is also known as Dr. Darrell Groman.)

Violet Ruth Moser, 95 died June 17, 2015, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
She was born April 2, 1920, in Pandora to the late Walter and Margaret (Naas) Basinger. On May 6, 1941 she married Wayne Moser who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2006.
She graduated from Pandora High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton.

Hardin County has recently experienced heavy rains in the past week.
Producers may have concerns about nitrogen loss in cornfields. Nitrogen losses occur by two main pathways: de-nitrification, which is gaseous loss of nitrogen, and leaching of nitrate from the soil through water leaving the tile line or into groundwater. There is no tool or test that can tell us how much has been lost.
The Bluffton Lions Club award six senior graduates $500 scholarships each for this year.

Don Hurless, 87, died at 12:18 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2015, at his residence.
Don was born June 22, 1927. in Lima to Truman and Leota (Rockwell) Hurless who preceded him in death. On Jan. 11, 1959, he married Carolyn Klaserner who preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1987.
Don is survived by cousins David Custer (Oklahoma) and Dona Mathwig (Lima, Ohio), good friends, Joyce and Earl Lhamon, Richard Patterson, a host of former piano students and fellow musicians.
