Ten Thousand Villages, 115 S. Main St., is holding clearance days from now to September 15, according to Anhaphanh Nussbaum, store manager. During the sale shoppers may save an additional 25 percent off the lowest price on all clearance items.

Senior citizen breakfast at the Bluffton middle school are set for the 2011-12 school year, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent. The breakfasts begin at 8:30 a.m. in the middle school cafetorium with the following schedule and student entertainers:

Sept. 14 - Marching band
Oct. 19 - Show choir
Nov. 9 - Drama Club
Dec. 14 - Concert choir
Jan. 11 - Strings
Feb. 8 - Ladies First Choir
March 7 - Concert band
April 11 - High school musical
May 9 - Jazz band

The next meeting for the Bluffton High School Football Moms will be held Monday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (basement) of Bluffton First United Methodist Church. The church is located at 116 Church Street, it is the dark brick church across the street from Bluffton Elementary School.

The Bluffton University men's soccer team outscored Moody Bible College 2-1 in the second half, but the home team's four-goal first stanza proved too much to overcome as the Beavers dropped their 2011 season opener. Moody improved to 2-1 with the victory while Bluffton takes a 0-1 record into its Saturday contest with Benedictine.

The Bluffton University football team rallied in the second half but turnovers proved to be the difference as Kalamazoo scored a 39-14 win over the Beavers on a hot and humid Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Bluffton starts the season 0-1, while the Hornets head into week two at 1-0.

Two turnovers by the home team in the first four minutes of the game set up a pair of Dimeko Price touchdowns for the Hornets. K-zoo jumped on top 12-0 at the 9:03 mark of the first quarter when Price went in from six yards out.
