The following awards are presented each May by the Bluffton High School Music Department. The  2020-21 awards winners are included in this all-time list. This year’s winners are also listed in a separate story by clicking here.

Craig Stone is cutting hair again. Lots of it. He reopened Stoney's Barbershop, in the lower level of 125 N. Main St., yesterday. Donning an Ohio State University mask, he says that there's lot of hair to cut in Bluffton. As of Friday morning, his earliest appointment  – not counting the waiting list for cancellations – is Friday, June 12.

2019-20 Bluffton High School music award winners

Bluffton High School music and drama students were recognized this week as 13 annual awards were presented in virtual format. This year’s student honorees follow. To view the all-time list of BHS music award winners, going back to 1967, click here.

Semper Fi Award 
Given to a band student who exemplifies good musicianship, dedication, dignity, community service and good grades

Here's today's installment of the Bluffton High School Class of 2020 Senior Spotlight. Each weekday until the end of May the Icon will feature photos and future plans for four BHS seniors.  Students will be featured in a four-set random order. 

John K. Estell of Bluffton, professor of computer engineering and computer science at Ohio Northern University, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). 

He will serve a three-year term beginning this June as the Chair of Professional Interest Council III, which consists of 14 out of a total of 56 ASEE divisions.

Estell has been a member of ASEE since 1993 and was elected in 2016 as a fellow in recognition of his contributions to the betterment of engineering education.

Bowling alleys, skill training for all sports

Lt. Governor Husted announced several new sector opening dates in Ohio:

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, miniature golf, batting cages, and bowling alleys may resume operations if they can meet required safety protocols. 

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, skills training for all sports, including contact sports, may resume if required safety protocols can be met. Tournaments, games, and competitions for contact sports are still prohibited.
