The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met in October for their annual fall meeting. The board welcomed a returning member, toured the Knowlton Science Center construction site and approved new endowments.

During the white-tailed deer gun hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Ryan Kennedy, assigned to Hardin County, received a complaint concerning hunting without permission. Officer Kennedy observed two hunters dragging a deer off the complainant’s property. Further investigation revealed the hunters did not have permission to enter the property. Officer Kennedy issued citations to both hunters for hunting without permission. They were found guilty, and each received a $75 fine.

Centaurus is the ninth largest constellation and it can be found in the southern sky.  Centaurus belongs to the Hercules family of constellations. The second century Greek astronomer Claudius Ptolemy has been credited with discovering the constellation. 

A 2-hour school delay has been announced by the Bluffton Exempted Village School District.

The National Weather Service has posted a fog advisory for Allen County:
DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING.

The old grain elevator building at 241 Cherry St. has been demolished by Ben's Construction of Lima with funding by the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, which is helping communities "tear down dilapidated commercial and residential buildings and revitalize surrounding properties to attract investments, businesses, and jobs."

With work beginning on Monday, October 31, the building was no longer recognizable on November 1. 

The old "Farmers Grain Co. #2" building took a serious push to topple over. A video by Blended Roots manager Katelyn Gainok showed that a heavy shovel/hydraulic excavator took some five minutes to flatten what remained of the building.
