Some Augusts are dry and brown, this August is lush and green. A Bluffton yard yielded this botanical odd couple of hydrangea and dill (or possibly fennel). 

Greenhorn owner Jonah Agner remembers dancing in the streets in downtown Bluffton, decades ago. With the short one-way stretch of Vine Street immediately next to his restaurant's patio service at 112 Vine, he decided to throw a block party for local families and university students on Saturday, August 20.

Dale and Deb (Huffer) Metzger of Bluffton, Ohio will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 19, 2022. They were married by Rev. Robert Quillen at Gomer United Church of Christ on August 19, 1972.

The Metzgers have two daughters and one son: Kristi (Matt) Lora of Bluffton, Ohio, Kelly (Brandon) McClure of Ada, Ohio, and Craig and Amy Metzger of Delaware, Ohio. 

Dale and Deb have 8 grandchildren: Kaden and Karlie Lora, Braydon, Brantley, and Madison McClure, and Drew, Austin, and Kendall Metzger.

The Bluffton High School girls tennis team won the top two singles matches but fell 3-2 in the overall score versus Defiance on Tuesday evening, August 16.

The close defeat dropped the Pirate record to 1-2-1 this season.

Juniors Brooke Camper and Caitlyn Couch each rolled to victory in straight sets to record the Bluffton wins.

Camper defeated Alexa Ritter by the score of 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Couch steamrolled Kaiya Snyder 6-0, 6-0 at second singles.

Observations by Guy Verhoff

The weather observed in Pandora by Guy Verhoff during the period of August 1-15 was a change of pace.

With temperatures ranging from 51 to 91, short pants and short sleeves were sure to result in a few goosebumps.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio⎯The Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition reports there were 3 fatal traffic crashes on Allen County roadways during the month of July 2022 for a total of 6 fatalities this year.

Last year (2021), there were 6 fatal crashes and 7 fatalities reported through the month of July.
