J.D. Snyder Excavating works to create a 70-foot retaining wall on the south side of Buckeye quarry. The intention is to protect the dike between the quarry and Riley Creek during floods.
The photo below reveals the potential damage to the dike where the retention wall is being placed.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team won a hard-fought battle against Earlham College on Wednesday, Dec. 5 by the score of 63 to 53. The win moved the Beavers to 2-5 on the year (1-1 HCAC). The Quakers fell to 1-4 and they also stand 1-1 in HCAC contests.
The first stanza was a back and forth battle as the Beavers and the Quakers exchanged baskets. Bluffton led 15-13 at the end of the opening period with nine of the Beavers' 15 points scored at the free throw line.

That's "brittle," but not with peanuts. This special edition is black walnut brittle. It is available while supplies last at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., The price is $7 for one-half pound.
The center also has its traditional peanut brittle priced at $5 for one pound. The holiday candy is available while supplies last.
