Music lovers arrive one hour earlier to get the best seat.

The gymnasium is packed.

Then, in come the performers. Every Bluffton Kindergartener, first grader, second grader, third grader, fourth grader and fifth grader.

It’s the largest mass choir to perform in Bluffton in the past 12 months (since last year’s concert).

Alice Basinger, raises her director’s hands... and immediately the Spirit of Christmas descends upon all attending.

Pandora weather observer Guy Verhoff reports that the weekend snowfall totaled 4.3 inches. Of that .6 fell on Saturday and 3.7 inches fell on Sunday.

 Dale Huber is celebrating his 90th birthday with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton.

He was born Dec. 14, 1926, to Russell and Josephine Huber. On Jan. 21, 1951,
he married Etta Jo, who died Feb. 5, 2016.

He has six children, Susan (Juan) Diaz, of Bluffton, Larry (Judy) Huber, of
Bluffton, Terry (Cheryl) Huber, of Lima, Jack Huber, of Troy, Lori Leftenant,
of Lima, David Huber, of Bluffton. He has 14 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter is aiding an Arlington family after responding to a fire on North Main Street in the village on Wednesday night.

The Red Cross provided assistance for immediate needs such as temporary lodging, food and clothing to those affected.

“We’re deeply saddened for those who were impacted by this fire,” said Todd James, Executive Director, North Central Ohio Chapter. “As we continue to help them, we urge everyone to take steps to minimize the risk of a fire occurring in their home.”

 

William L. "Bill" Gieseler, 73, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at 3:32 p.m.

He was born on March 2, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, to Harold L. and Dolores Kathryn (McGlumphy) Gieseler who preceded him in death. On Nov. 16, 1968, Bill married Paula K. Scott and she survives in Alger.
