Enter the lobby of the Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., and you may see a performance in the Royal Theatre. The theatre is part of a small, but large Christmas village.

First National Bank is assisting in a benefit fundraiser for Tom Dukes, area resident and farmer, who is battling colon cancer.

A chicken barbecue with live entertainment is planned on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Columbus Grove American Legion Post 516, 412 Plum St., Columbus Grove.

Pre-sale tickets are now on sale. Persons may dine-in or carry-out from 5 to7 p.m. The event will also include gun raffles, live and silent auctions and a 50-50 drawing.

Live music wlll be provided by Polly Mae starting at 9 p.m.

The Findlay Rugby Club will host a Pay to Play Wheelchair Rugby tournament on Saturday, Jan. 3, at BFR Sports & Fitness,  215 Snider Road, Bluffton. 

The event will feature up to 10 area rugby teams competing (in wheelchairs) against each other indoors on a gymnasium court. Players from the Adaptive Sports of Ohio organization will be featured, as well. Matches begin at 9 a.m.

Teams may still register for $125; the general public is welcome to watchwith a free-will donation.

Donna Steiner, 86, died on Dec. 27, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.  She was born on Nov. 27, 1928, in Wayne County, Michigan, to Harry D. and Mable I. (McPheron) Wingate who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one older brother Albert R. Wingate, daughter-in-law Carol (von Stein) Steiner, and great grandson Josiah David Steiner.

She married Harley R. Steiner on July 30, 1948.  They were married over 66 years.

The Village of Bluffton Service Department will pick up Christmas trees placed curbside on Wednesdays beginning the week after Christmas.

The first pick up is Wednesday, Dec. 31.

From circa 1918, here is the Noah F. and Susan (Gerig) Steiner family. The Steiner farm was four miles west of Bluffton on Columbus Grove Road. The Zion Mennonite Cemetery is directly east of the farm.
