The Bluffton University baseball team had six players earn All-Heartland Conference honors following the 2014 campaign, including Freshman of the Year Luke Hickey (Toledo/Whitmer), one of two Beavers selected to the First Team. Tim Webb (Delaware/Worthington Christian) joined Hickey with his First Team All-HCAC selection. Seniors David Ianiro (Highland Heights/Mayfield) and Christian Vail (Lucas) secured Second Team All-HCAC honors while junior Jake Townley (Mansfield/Madison) and senior Ben Roeschley (Graymont, Ill./Flanagan) both collected honorable mention recognition.
Jeremy Basinger, Mike Liska and Jené Sommers are participating in a cross-cultural experience in the Holy Land, May 5-22.
They and other Bluffton University students will survey the geography and archeology of the region by visiting significant biblical and historical sites and by meeting with Israeli and Palestinian people. They will walk where Jesus walked, float in the Dead Sea and eat St. Peter’s fish at the Sea of Galilee.
With Mother’s Day fresh on my mind, allow me to share with you some important things my mother taught me. Maybe after reading this, you’ll think of some things your mom taught you.
Don't tell us that you didn't buy anything at the arts and crafts show! How about the farmers' market? How about some food?
Okay, then, did you listen to any of the musical entertainment? Did you think about riding the ponies, or talking with the llamas?
Certainly you drank a cup of coffee, sipped a snow cone or bought some gourmet popcorn - or just a $1 bag fo popcorn. Did you have some homemade ice cream? Did you win something from the fishing pond?
Joel R. Kimmel, 92, of Bluffton died at 8 a.m. May 10, 2014 at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born July 18, 1921, in Lima to the late Leslie and Minnie Bigler Kimmel.
On Aug. 17, 1947 he married Rebecca Hofstetter and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 1989. He then married Madlyn Isham Marquart on June 15, 1991, and she died March 10, 2012.
