The "pink, red and white" Bluffton High School fast pitch softball team took the field Wednesday for a good cause. Bluffton and its opponent, Elida, had pink incorporated with their uniforms to make a statement for Breast Cancer Awareness. Bluffton won the hard fought game 5-3. Beginning May 1 and continuing through August 30, BFR Sports and Fitness is offering four months of membership for the cost of three from May 1 to Aug. 30, according to Carole Enneking, director. 

Individuals (14 years of age or older) will receive full membership benefits with this special. The price of $89.67 includes access to the fitness center, indoor track, discounts on class and training fees plus open recreation hours.

Nathan Jordan pulls the plug on this Bluffton fire hydrant. Nearly 300 hydrants get flushed this week. This one is at the corner of Bentley and Sunset Drive.

It will be a busy week in Bluffton: the opening of the farmers' market, Bluffton Sportsmen's Club trout derby and...Bluffton University May Day and commencement.

Bluffton University will mark its annual May Day weekend May 1-4 with traditional alumni reunions, student activities and graduation events, as well as a “faculty showcase” in Musselman Library.

Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St., Bluffton, is open 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings with a full menu which includes 7 appetizers, 8 main course items, soups, salads and house-baked desserts.  

In addition to the regular menu, the May 2 & 3 features celebrate Cinco de Mayo:

A recent financial audit of Apollo Career Center by the Auditor of State's office has returned a clean audit report. Apollo Career Center's excellent record keeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award.

The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a "clean" audit report:
