Several downtown Bluffton businesses invite Icon viewers to a Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, Christmas open house.

Many businesses are participating in the event. Each has several special offers. Included in the open house are:

• Town and Country Flowers, 121 S. Main St.
Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A special coupon, which is a printer-friendly attachment at the bottom of this story provides $5 off a $30 purchase. The coupon is good through Dec. 31, 2013.

If you ever wanted to ride in an open-air 1930s-era Stearman biplane, Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) offers you that opportunity. The ride, provided by Jeff Koehler, is among 25 unusual silent auction items up for grabs at BCE’s “Come Fly with the BCE” fundraiser.

The Bluffton elevator experienced an unfortunate occurrence eariler this week. One of the storage bins buckled. Employees worked to salvage the corn.

How could a 4-year-old Bluffton girl win this year's Bluffton Icon football contest? Well, it's true and false at the same time.

Young Adelyn Althaus is this year's winner. She accumulated 111 points this season and had three weekly wins. Here's the catch, Adelyn's entries were entered in her name by her dad, Andy Althaus.

But, it made for an interesting contest and we wish Adelyn well in future contests.
