Bluffton University art majors Amanda Huston of Mount Blanchard, Ohio, and Lauren Faris of Elida, Ohio, will display art they have created at Bluffton during their senior exhibition, from March 11-22 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, as is a reception for the artists from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17.

February came and went and the days continue to get longer and longer in promise of spring.  According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, this February was above average in a couple ways but not by much.

The average temperature in February was 27.7 degrees (F), which is .5 degrees higher than our normal average.  We had a high temperature of 52 degrees on Feb. 18 and our lowest temperature was 7 degrees, recorded on Feb. 7.

Kasey Kruse,16, of Columbus Grove, doesn't just get a haircut. You might say she recycles her hair. She recently donated 10 inches of her hair to Locks of Love. This was the fifth donation to the organization that she made.

She has been able to give this gift approximately every 1 1/2 to 2 years. Kasey is the daughter of Ken and Connie Kruse, owners of Town and Country Flowers, Bluffton, and attends Columbus Grove High School. She is pictured  with her Aunt Linda Kruse of Linda's Styling and Tanning Salon, Columbus Grove.

Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 participated in the 2013 Klondike Derby, held on Jan. 19.

The Klondike derby is a competition between Boy Scout troops from around the area. Each Boy Scout patrol pulls or pushes a dog sled. Each sled contains competition gear for use at the different stations.

The stations test the scout’s knowledge and the ability to work as a team. This year’s stations consisted of:
• 2-man saw,
• map and compass reading,
• knot tying,
•fire building, and
• water rescuing.

Ebenezer Mennonite Church will host a "Parenting with a Purpose Seminar," led by Dr. Marv Penner. The seminar is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 16, at the church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.

Dr. Marv Penner works for the Center for Parent and Youth Understanding. He has authored many books and has also spoken all over the world. Dr Penner is also a licensed counselor.
