The Bluffton University men’s basketball team suffered an 82-54 loss at Hanover College on January 5, 2013. The Beavers stayed winless at 0-6 in the Heartland Conference (4-9 overall). Hanover improved to 4-2 in HCAC play and 7-6 on the season.

Carlin Carpenter, former Bluffton University football coach, is the guest speaker of the
Friday, Jan. 11, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Breakfast serving will begin at 7 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the third
floor of the town hall. Members may RSVP now for the breakfast.

Reichenbach and Steiner CPA is the breakfast sponsor.

 

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs, will hold a roundtable workshop for one-shop-do-it-all business owners and independent consultants for product lines.

The free workshop is at 8:45 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.

The workshop follows the 7:30 a.m. January Bluffton chamber breakfast also held in the town hall.

The workshop will last about one hour.

Earnest "Oscar" Williams, 83, formerly of Lafayette, died at 5:21 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Merdie B. and Dora Adams Williams, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married Martha Neeley, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Williams had been a machine operator at Clark Equipment Co., Lima, for 31 years. He retired in 1994 as a custodian from Allen East Elementary School, after 10 years. He was a member of High Street Freewill Baptist Church, Ada.

Or, forgotten, but not gone. This vehicle, perhaps owned by a Bluffton University student, may thaw out in time to be driven later this spring. In the meantime, it sits on Spring Street awaiting warmer weather.
