The Village of Bluffton will see its annual population spike this weekend, beginning Friday, Aug. 24, with about 280 new first-year and transfer students moving onto the Bluffton University campus.
New student move-in, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, will open a weekend on which other Bluffton undergraduates will return to campus for the start of classes Monday, Aug. 27.
Capping the weekend, from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, both new and returning students will continue a fall semester-eve tradition with an ice cream social on Bluffton's Main Street.
Applications are being accepted for the Allen and Van Wert Counties Master Gardener Training Class of 2012. Ohio Master Gardeners attend 50 hours of training and provide 50 hours of volunteer service to the community as volunteer educators. Allen County residents commit to volunteer service in Allen County and Van Wert County residents commit to volunteer service in Van Wert County.
Pandora United Methodist Church will hold a program "The Many Faces of Old Glory: How we got our flag and how we got the United States."
According to Rev. Duane A. Kemerley, pastor, "The presentation is at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5. The video program has been called the finest flag show ever. This program is sponsored by the Mid-Century Club of Pandora and will be hosted at the Pandora United Methodist Church located at 108 E. Washington St."
Even pipes can look artistic, when stacked and photographed at an angle. These pipes are stored at the Motter Metro Park outside Bluffton on Columbus Grove Road.
