Rick Skilliter, Bluffton Police Chief, released police reports of the first six months of 2012 to The Icon.
Bluffton's police department has had 2,851 calls for service during the first six months of 2012. Of those, 949 were calls for building checks.
The department had 87 traffic citations given. In its FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data, Bluffton had 154 reports.

Dancers Elite of Bluffton is currently taking registration for its 33rd year of quality dance instruction. There is no registration fee. St. John's United Church of Christ will host an ice cream social in Oppermann Hall on Sunday, Aug. 5 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Ice Age: Continental Drift" (PG) and Ted (R) will be shown at the theatre from July 27 - August 2.
Show times follow:
Ice Age: Continental Drift (2D only) - Each evening at 7 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4 PM.
Ted - Each evening at 9:30 PM.

There's a national park in the sanctuary of St. John's United Church of Christ.

That's because Bluffton Community Vacation Bible School is in session this week. SonRise National Park! is the theme. VBS is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.
