Here's a rare photo taken from the air of the "bend" on Kibler Street cira 1948. Is the Icon correct to state that the houses on the west side belonged to Bakers, Littles, Stauffers and Bierys?

Once in a conversation with the late James F. West, former Citizens National Bank president, he said that in the late 1940s this neighbor was known as "mortage row."

That title, of course, changes with each new subdivision, and he was certainly aware of that.

Rockport United Methodist Church will hold its summer Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, July 30 to Friday, Aug. 3, at the church in Rockport.

This year's VBS theme is "Point Your Kids to Jesus!" Youth ages 3 through sixth grade are invited to attend. The VBS includes stories, games, music, crafts and other events.

There are hundreds of social networking websites. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Pinterest, Google+ and Instagram are just a few. That is great and all but do we really need all of these sites that share something in common?

For example, MySpace and Facebook, what is really the difference between the two? Yes, there are major differences, but here is a question older generations have always asked... why would you post something, sometimes private, and let other people see it? Who cares why do it?

You might called the Saturday, July 14, Bluffton Taste of Summer "Italian Heritage Night," or perhaps its an Italian-American summer festival.

Bluffton's Taste of Summer continues with an evening of food and entertainment at Jeannie's Restaurant, on Vine Street, from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday, July 14. The event is part of a summer series sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event is family-oriented and is open to the public.

Tim Stockman and Jed Marquart attended the Dayton Air Show on July 8. Guess who they "ran into"?

Here's the story as Jed tells is:

Tim Stockman and I attended the Dayton Air Show on Sunday. Tim wanted to check out the Ohio Highway Patrol static display, since he is a former trooper. As we passed by the OHP airplane on display, the pilot looked familiar and quickly came over to speak with us.
