Laura Diller Handford 1941-2009
A service of Celebration of the Life of Laura Jane Diller Handford will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, Ohio.
Mrs. Handford, 68, a resident of Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, died Sept. 22, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Handford was born Feb. 2, 1941 in Bluffton, Ohio to Leland and Helen Iutzi Diller, who preceded her in death. She married Dr. H. Allen Handford, who survives.
Mrs. Handford was a 1959 graduate of Bluffton High School, a 1963 graduate of Bluffton College and received a master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan. She retired as a children's psychiatric social worker for the Capital Area Intermediate Unit. She was a member of the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Survivors also include a brother, Samuel W. (Joan) Diller, of Bluffton, Ohio; a sister, Mary Jo (Thomas) Lehman of Chapel Hill, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oncology Department of the M.S. Hershey Medical Center, P.O. Box 850, Hershey, PA 17033; Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Bluffton University, 1 University Drive, Bluffton, OH 45817.
Arrangements were by Hoover Funeral Home, Hershey, Pa.
