The May 24 Bluffton High School commencement was a smorgasbord of emotions, entertainment, philosophy and festivity. Depending on your role–as a graduate, parent, sibling, friend, neighbor, teacher or mentor–the program brought tears, laughter and introspection.
MAY 28 MEDIA RELEASE__Area Agency on Aging 3 is facing restructuring in the coming months due to a nonrenewal of a private provider contract. Area Agency on Aging 3 has been under contract to provide 19-counties throughout Western Ohio with case management services since 2018.
The privately held contract company will no longer provide these services and has tendered nonrenewal to several other organizations. Regretfully, due to the contract’s nonrenewal, the agency will be reducing staff numbers on July 1, 2025.
Marjorie Ann (Bauman) Diss, 84, residing in Marblehead, OH, passed away, Friday, May 23, 2025, in Otterbein North Shore.
She was born on June 23, 1940 in Pandora, OH to the late Laural and Ollie (Messinger) Bauman.
Marjorie graduated from Bluffton High School in 1959, received her BA in 1994 from OSU and her Masters in Special Education in Wichita, and did her student teaching in Van Wert School District.. She worked in several factories before working for the Wichita School District in Special Education, retiring in 2009.
MAY 27 MEDIA RELEASE___Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two
During the 2024-25 white-tailed deer gun hunting season, State Wildlife Officer Jason Porinchok, assigned to Putnam County, observed a hunter wearing only a hunter-orange hat. Hunters are required to wear an orange vest, coat, jacket, or coveralls during deer gun hunting seasons. Officer Porinchok contacted the hunter and issued a citation for not wearing the required hunter orange. The hunter paid a $125 fine in addition to court costs in Putnam County Court.

The first play date is Monday, June 2. Join us at the Park any time after 9:30 a.m.
Bring you kids/grandkids-both big and small. Come when you can and stay as long as you are able. Enjoy the sunshine and some fresh air. Let the kids play and burn off some energy while you talk with other adults.
