Ohio Christian scored twice midway through the second half en route to a 2-0 victory over Bluffton University on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011. The Beavers slipped to 0-5 on the season, while OCU improved to 4-1 with their victory.

Join "Gourd Man" Keith McClelland to discover the magic of gourd-carving at Bluffton Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. He will demonstrate how to carve gourds with a Halloween theme.

This demonstration is free to the public and will be located in lower level of the library. Please register at the library circulation desk.

Going after the green

Looks like it's going to rain. Bluffton University grounds staff took advantage of the opening in the weather to shorten the grass.

Bluffton University students answer some back to school questions on an Icon YouTube video. They talk about what the forgot to bring, what they miss most about home, what they like to do on campus, and what kind of culture shock they had coming to a small town like Bluffton.

Jordan Howe, Bluffton University journalism student and fall Icon intern, created the video. Howe will create several brief videos during the fall semester for the Icon.

Local government fund allocation for 2012 was recently released by Rhonda D. Eddy-Stienecker, Allen County auditor.

The village of Bluffton is allocated $88,884.27. Richland Township is allocated $22,051.07. The village of Beaverdam is allocated$13,658.71.
