A meeting of the Village of Bluffton's Fire and Rescue Committee has been scheduled for Monday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Bluffton Town Hall prior to the regularly scheduled village council meeting.
Six Bluffton University students were among more than 30 students from Mennonite institutions who met in New York City Oct. 27-29 for a conference focused on peacemaking in countries plagued by conflict.
"Constructing Nationhood: Civil Society, National Government, and the International Community" was the theme of this year's Mennonite Central Committee United Nations Office Seminar. The annual conference-attended by Bluffton students every year since it began 16 years ago-aims to raise awareness of important world issues.
Bluffton University's weeklong celebration of gospel music will wrap up Saturday evening, Nov. 12, with a 6 p.m. concert featuring nine choirs in Founders Hall.
The roughly 200 voices singing in the concert will close it at about 7:15 p.m. with a combined performance of "Shine the Light" by Dr. Raymond Wise, the week's guest musician.
Carole Elchert, a writer, photographer and adjunct faculty member in communication at the University of Findlay, will present "Converging In-Sight" at a Bluffton University Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Free and open to the public, the event will begin at 11 a.m. in Yoder Recital Hall.
Elchert will describe the significance of the themes in her photography, including return, remembering, renewal and re-visioning. Using images from photographic pilgrimages to four continents, she will discuss seeing and perception and the camera as an artistic tool, among other topics.
