Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton, will host a soup cook-off from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, featuring six area restaurants and caterers.

The event is in the Patio Room at Maple Crest, 700 Maple Crest Court, off Augsburger Road, Bluffton.

Soups include:
o Luke's Bar and Grill - Taco soup
o The Dough Hook - Chili
o LuLu's Diner and Catering - Stuffed green pepper
o Jeanne's Kitchen - Broccoli cheddar
o Bluffton University - Loaded baked potato
o Rossilli's - Corn and crab chowder

More football contest are coming.

The Bluffton Icon is offering a National Football League weekly contest starting this week. It replaces the high school football contest that ended on Friday. The NFL contest will continue all the way to the Super Bowl.

The college football contest will continue until the end of the regular college season. A college bowl contest will replace it in December.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Puss In Boots" (PG) is showing at the theatre from October 28 - November 3.

2D every evening at 7 PM with Saturday & Sunday matinees at 1:30 PM.
3D every evening at 9:30 PM with Saturday & Sunday matinees at 4 PM.

Peter Suter of Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn, 117 S. Main St., announced that "Black Forrest" and "Bluffton Icon" are Shirley's popcorn flavors of the month for November. Store hours are Thursdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shirley's website is shirleyspopcorn.com.

Jerry Cupples was named winner of The Icon's week 9 football contest through his picking correct tie-breakers this week.

Cupples, Mark Sommers and Scott Gleason all accumulated 7 points this week. Cupples was declared the winner by virtue of Tie-Breaker #3.

Other contestants
6 points - Andy Althaus, Joe Suter and Nancy Armour.

5 points - Andy Borgelt, Duane Bollenbacher, James Crawfis, Jim Dillman, Joyce Suter, Lyle Arnold and Mike Burris.

4 points - Dan Smith, Dave Moser and Jared Lehman.

Joyce Suter and Scott Gleason tied as winners of the final regular season Icon high school weekly football contest. Andy Borgelt was eliminated in tie-breaker.

Mike Burris was the clear overall season winner in this year's contest. The cummulative records follow the weekly records below. Corey Greer was the judge of the high school contest.
