Bluffton Police, Bike Crazy and Bluffton Pediatrics will host a bike rodeo from 8 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at the Buckeye park.

The event for youth will include bike riding safety skills, free helmets (limited quantity) and prize drawings.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) announces it has been recognized as a recipient of the Platinum Governor’s Award for Excellence by The Partnership for Excellence (TPE), a Baldrige-based awards program for Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana. 

This is the highest-level Excellence Award TPE offers, and BVHS is the only health system to have received it this year.

The Bluffton University softball team had three players recognized when the All-Heartland Conference awards were announced on Wednesday, May 8. Junior Caylin Morstadt(Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) secured Second Team honors while senior Kelsey Reeder (Galion/Northmor) was named Honorable Mention All-HCAC. The Heartland Conference also announced the All-Sportsmanship Team.

June Beverly Campbell, 91, of Bluffton and formerly of Austin, Pennsylvania, died May 11, 2019, at Willow Ridge Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio. 

June was born on January 15, 1928, in Austin, Pennsylvania to the late Oscar and Lena (Glaspy) McMullen. June is survived by her husband of 70 years, Claude.  They were married on Sept. 18, 1948 in Austin, Pa.  Also surviving is her son Dan (Judi) of Port Allegheny, Pa., and her daughter Holly Diehl (Lon) of Fort Wayne, Ind.  June had four grandchildren, Meghan, Maureen, Matthew and Kari.  She also had eight great-grandchildren.
