A public auction is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday, July 19, at 180 E. Jefferson St., Bluffton, according to Nick Moody, auctioneer for ERA Geyer Noakes.

The auction include a sale of household goods plus a wide assortment of additional items. The auction list is posted on the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Backyard Habitats, a presentation by Dan Hodges of Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District will be held on July 17 at 6 p.m.

The butterflies thrive and you can watch them

The elders at Maple Crest Senior Living Village have been enamored with monarch butterflies since 2007. 

That’s when administrator Lynn Thompson brought in a few caterpillars for observation and residents and staff alike watched in wonder as they became monarch butterflies and were released to begin their 3,000 mile migration route to Mexico.

As she enters her third week at Bluffton University president

As Dr. Jane Wood becomes adjusted to her new surroundings as Bluffton University president The Icon talked with her briefly on Monday about a range of subjects. A portion of that interview follows in a paraphrased fashion.

You are starting your third week at Bluffton. What’s taken place prior to this?
I’ve toured the campus, and gotten settled in my office,  and now I want to dive deeper by meeting faculty and staff, putting names to faces.

The fourth annual Bluffton Ride to Remember attracted over 200 bicyclists on Saturday. Here's the mass start, as bikers stretch out along Snider Road. Many of the riders took off earlier than the mass start.
