Action in special council meeting on June 14

At a special Bluffton council on June 14, council voted unanimously to hire Jack Huber as Bluffton’s next village administrator. 

In a news release from the village, Huber, formerly from Bluffton, said that he is looking forward to working with the mayor, council, and staff and serving the community at large. 

Huber holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration and has a diverse professional and managerial background, working in both public and private sectors, according to the news release.

Fourth Saturday of each momnth

Masterpiece Signs, 902 N. Main St., will again host a monthly Bluffton Cars and Coffee this summer and fall, according to Tim Boutwell.

The event is an “informal gathering for enthusiasts and their cars.” The monthly cars and coffee event continues through October. It is always held on the fourth Saturday of the month.

Each event is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the following Saturdays:  June 24, July 22, Aug. 26, Sept. 23 and Oct. 28.

Boutwell said that it is open to all makes, models and vehicle years. There’s no charge to attend and door prizes will be given away.

Thursdays night and Friday night - details below

A project to replace the bridge deck on the Bentley Road bridge over I-75, Bluffton, will require two overnight closures of I-75 this week.

I-75 northbound under the Bentley Road overpass will close overnight Thursday, June 15, from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. for the removal of the bridge deck and parapet walls over northbound travel lanes.

It's the company's seventh location

Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company will open a new franchise location in Goshen, Indiana, in the fall of 2017, co-founder and CEO Pete Suter announced.

The store, located on Main Street in the heart of historic downtown Goshen, will mark the company’s seventh overall location and first in Indiana. It will be locally owned and operated by Goshen native Kate Steury Leaman and husband Jon Leaman.

Six seniors have been named as scholarship winners this year from the Bluffton Lions Club.

These students were present at the June 6t Lions club meeting to share their plans for the future with club members. 

Two students were absent, due to their work schedule. They are Grace Hill, Bluffton, and Presley Hovest from Pandora-Gilboa.

 The Pandora United Methodist Church will be host a free community meal on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. 

The meal this month is provided by Missions and Friends. The menu will be baked potato bar, hamburger sandwich, salad, applesauce, cake, punch/coffee.
