In December 2010, Congress extended the so-called Bush-era tax cuts. However, for investors, the legislation may have been a stay of execution rather than a full pardon. As of January 1, 2013, federal tax rates on income, qualifying dividends, and capital gains (among other provisions) are scheduled to revert to previous levels.

Dr. James L. Spinelli, Columbia, South Carolina,  Retired Colonel US Army, was born in Wurzburg, Germany. He entered the United States Army in June 1974, as a distinguished graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He received his Medical Degree at USUHS In 1982, in Bethesda, MD.

He was the grandson of former Bluffton resident Del McGinnis and he spent some time in Bluffton while he was growing up.

Gregory Paul Schramm, 58, of Newport Beach, Calif., formerly of Columbus Grove, died at 7:20 a.m. Oct. 24, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 29, 1953, in Lima to Arthur Schramm and Gladys Schumaker Reese. His father survives in Lima. His mother and stepfather, Gary Reese, survive in Elida. On April 14, 2000, he married Kimberly Sitton, who survives.

Emmanuel United Church of Christ will hold its annual fall fish fry Friday, Nov. 9, at the church located at 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton.

The dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.

The menu includes:
•deep fried fish,
•cheesy potatoes,
•baked beans and calico beans,
•green bean bake,
•macaroni and cheese,
•buttered bread, 
•a variety of salads,
•a big selection of homemade desserts and
•beverages.
