Twelve organizations benefited from the Bluffton American Legion Post 382’s third annual charity golf tournament held this summer at the Bluffton Golf Club. Checks were presented to the groups on Oct. 2.

According to the Legion, this year $6,000 was raised from the tournament. The following charities received donated from the event:

As of Oct. 1 the United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam and Richland Township raised is $2,850 out of the $24,000, which is 11.88% of the campaign goal.  Contributions are accepted at Citizens National Bank.

Greg's Health Mart Pharmacy, 126 N. Main St., Bluffton, has flu shot available, according to Greg Conkling.

No appointments are needed and persons may call for details: 419-358-5946. Flu shots are available Tuesdays through Fridays. Seasonal flu and H1N1 shots are $25.

 The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its weekly football computer ratings Tuesday, Oct. 2. The weekly computer ratings are released every Tuesday afternoon beginning after the fourth week of the season, leading up to the final report released on Sunday, Oct. 28. The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the regional quarterfinals.

Ratings are listed by division and region with record and average points. Log on to the football page at OHSAA.org for an explanation of how the ratings are calculated.

Blanchard Valley Hospital’s Cardiovascular Program, part of the Jane & Gary Heminger HeartCare Center, was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals for 2013 by Truven Health Analytics, formerly Thomson Reuters.

The study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties. This year’s winners were recently announced in Modern Healthcare magazine.

Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 4950 N. Thayer Road, Lima, will host a free community supper on the second Sunday of each month, according to Mark Bowyer, pastor. The next two suppers are Oct. 14 and Nov. 11.
