Bluffton junior high and high school youth are invited to an End of Summer Youth Blast Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street.

High school and junior high youth are invited to join in on pizza, games and a movie on the lawn. Cost is $2 per person or $5 for three or more youth from the same family. All high school youth (from youth entering sixth grade on up) are invited to this event, so tell all of your friends

Cement petunia

Sort of like a petunia in the onion patch. This stray is growing between the Vine Street curb and the sidewalk. It apparently grew from seed from last summer's downtown flower pots.

A 29-year-old woman was recently indicted by an Allen County Grand Jury for her role in connection with a serious traffic crash on Dec. 9, 2010, in Bluffton, according to Bluffton police.

Bluffton emergency services responded to an injury traffic crash at 5:49 p.m. on Harmon Road in front of Bluffton Hospital. A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck a tow truck that was parked along Harmon Road, according to the police report.

A few tense moments kept neighbors wondering what was happening in a quiet residential neighborhood on Monday, Aug. 1.

Bluffton Police and Allen County Sheriff's deputies responded to an Elm Street residence in regard to a possible bomb incident.

The local resident contacted Toledo police after he discovered a voice message indicating a bomb was being placed at his home. Toledo police contacted Bluffton authorities, who followed established procedures for such an incident.

A former Bluffton man was indicted by an Allen County Grand Jury after he filed an insurance claim alleging fire damage and loss, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

Justin R. Fout, formerly of North Main Street, filed an insurance claim related to a fire in the 500 block of North Main Street on Dec. 29, 2010. The fire destroyed a mobile home and caused minor damage to a business property next door.

The fire cause was ruled undetermined, but no suspicious activity was suspected.

Any Bluffton student who will be entering the 7th grade this fall is required to have a Tdap booster vaccination (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) prior to the start of the 2011-12 school year.

The TDAP shot is a booster to the shot students receive before entering Kindergarten.

Verification of the Tdap booster shot must be dropped off, mailed, or faxed (419) 358-4871 to the Bluffton Middle School office prior to Aug. 29.
