Do you enjoy reading or writing poetry? Then come and join the Bluffton Public Library for an open poetry night on Thursday, May 26, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the library's Richland Room.

Members of the community ages 12 and up are invited to share poems that they've written or ones they hold dear or simply come and listen to the creativity of others.

All poems read must have appropriate content. Space for the program is limited and registration is required.

Galen Kenneth Graymire

Galen Kenneth Graymire, 96, of Harrod died at 3:15 a.m., May 5, 2011, at Richland Manor, Bluffton.

He was born Jan. 19, 1915, in Allen County to Hiram and Alma Fox Graymire. On Dec. 5, 1939, he married Hazel E. Riggle and she preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 1994.

Mr. Graymire was retired from the Lima Ford Engine Plant. He had been residing in Florida since 1984 where he was a member of the Mackintosh United Methodist Church and the Mackintosh Lions Club.

He was a1933 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School where he was on the basketball team.

The Bluffton-Pandora Rotary Club seeks sponsors for its 2011 Freedom Fest. The event will be held at the Bluffton University football stadium in conjunction with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life on Friday evening, June 24.

The Fest' includes fun events, food, musical entertainment, game books inflatable, live duck races and similar events. A fireworks display will take place at dusk.

This year's event is held during the Bluffton Sesquicentennial celebration.

I think it would be of great interest to your readers to post a section for people who would like to car pool from Bluffton to Lima. My wife and I both work in Lima and would look forward to car pooling with other individuals that wish to save money on the high cost of gas.

The tickets for the Sesquicentennial Ball are on sale at the Bluffton Centre, for $10 each. The event will take place Saturday, June 25, at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

"Music, dance, and refreshments, and the gaily dressed will welcome your attendance," said Beverly Amstutz, chair of the sesquicentennial planning committee.

Preparation for Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs third annual art benefit auction has begun with a call to artists.

The event is an opportunity for artists to increase their visibility among local buyers. A 25 percent commission is returned to participating artists. The art auction is held at The Centre, Bluffton, on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Artists whose works are selected with be invited to attend the auction and dinner as a guest of BCE.

Submissions will be accepted until Oct. 28. A preview day will be held one week prior to the auction.
