Bluffton University will host its annual Academic Awards Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Students to be honored include graduating seniors in the Honors Program and Mallori Bontrager, from Wellman, Iowa, who has completed a departmental honors project. She will give a brief presentation on her project in English. Graduating C. Henry Smith Scholars and Pi Delta inductees will also be recognized.
Bring your family and party attitude to Bluffton Public Library on Monday, May 2, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be hosted by Oscar Velasquez.
Some of the festivities include the history behind the day and traditional Spanish music such as "La Paloma" and "Solamente Una Vez," which are part of a short program of beautiful songs and enchanting melodies. There will even be a pi~nata party for the kids after the performance - fun for the whole family.
The cast of Bluffton University's May Day-weekend musical may not be complete until minutes before the curtain rises on opening night May 5. And even then, the contestants in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" won't stay the same the next two nights.

Lillian Mae Weyer, 80 died at 11:45 a.m., April 17, 2011 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Lima to Karl and Magdalean (Kayser) Zimmerman. On June 22, 1950, she married Jack Weyer and he survives.
She retired from Bluffton Schools as a librarian and treasurer after 21 years. She also worked at the Peerless Ohio Glove Factory, Triplett Corporation, both of Bluffton, Montgomery Ward of Lima and was a devoted babysitter.
