Effective Monday, January 17, 2022, Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), including Bluffton Hospital, will be further limiting the number of visitors coming into the organization due to the increased transmission in the community and rise in COVID-19 cases. This is to ensure that BVHS provides the safest environment for patients, visitors and associates.

The American Legion Bluffton Post 382 of the American Legion hosts regular meetings at 7:30 p.m. on first and third Mondays of the month.

Meetings are held at the Bluffton Sportsmens Club (405 N. Spring Street). All veterans are welcome. Phone 419-358-0334 for more information.

Tours available evenings and weekends

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District is currently accepting applications from students interested in attending the school district through open enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year.

Students from any school district in Ohio may apply and enroll in Bluffton Schools tuition free. Students are admitted on a full-time basis only.

Applications are approved annually on a first come, first served basis and approval is subject to grade level enrollment and educational programs.

The Board of Education for the Bluffton Exempted Village School District met on January 12 for a regular and organizational meeting. With all five members present, the board elected Larry Hoffman as president and Brad Dailey as vice-president. (See oath of office for new and re-elected members.)

Four visitors were present for the meeting.

Among the evening’s business, the board approved:

Library distribution paused; schools and universities prioritized

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) announced on January 12 that the distribution of free at-home COVID tests through public libraries will be paused and priority given to supporting school and university testing. 

Since September 2021, the Bluffton Public Library has distributed some 3,000 tests to the public.

As of the afternoon of January 13, the Bluffton Schools did not know when to expect delivery of tests. Superintendent Greg Denecker contemplated turning over tests to the Bluffton library.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly member meeting on Friday, January 14 on the third floor of the Town Hall, 154 N. Main. Ohio Means Jobs is the breakfast sponsor and will give a presentation. 

A complimentary breakfast will be provided by The Dough Hook Meat Market and coffee will be provided by the Twisted Whisk.
