The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, November 11.
The organization will honor veterans with a presentation from Chad Cupples, who served as an Army Sergeant with the 323rd Military Police Company from 1997-2005. He served in Operation New Horizons 1999, Operation Noble Eagle 2001-02 and Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003-04. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Badge for his service in Iraq.
Attention, downtown Bluffton shop keepers: the Bluffton Fire Department will hang storefront garlands on Wednesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pole lights will be installed on Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please ask employees not to park on Main St. until after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Beaverdam will receive a $21,853 grant from Nature Works Round 28 Awards for the installation of a secure fence around a playground area in the village park.
The grant is one of 68 recently announced by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). $1.7 million in grants will support dozens of new outdoor recreation projects across the state. Projects include the development of playgrounds, natural playscapes, trails, restrooms, dog parks, baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, splash pads and picnic shelters.
Football: Beavers blow through Anderson 27-9
The Bluffton University football team picked up a 27-9 win against Anderson University on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Beavers improved to 2-7 overall (2-4 HCAC) while the Ravens stayed winless at 0-9 overall (0-5 HCAC).
The men hit the home turf again next Saturday, Nov. 12, when they welcome Northwest Ohio rival Defiance College to Alumni Field for Senior Day. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 p.m.
