Note: Bluffton sixth graders in the 1953-54 school year (graduating class of 1960) created a booklet titled "The Bluffton Story." The following article is part of that booklet, which is now in the history collection at the Bluffton Public Library. This series continues each week on the Icon.

The Bluffton Community Hospital has ranked Bluffton as one of the leading medical centers of Northwestern Ohio.

Here are some bird's-eye views of flooding in Bluffton taken about 10 a.m .on Friday, April 26.

Sunday program at Maple Crest focus is linen, wool and flax

Keith Sommer and Rachel Friesen will present a program on the textiles used by settlers in the Bluffton-Pandora area during the period of 1833-1863, sponsored by the Swiss Community Historical Society.

The society's spring program is at 5 p.m, Sunday, April 28, in the Maple Crest Patio Room, 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton.

Sommer and Friesen will discuss and show linen and wool garments from the society's collection as well as flax grown, harvested and processed at the Schumacher Homestead in summer 2018 and spring 2019.

May the 4th Be With You; the library will be celebrating Star Wars Day on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4. There will be Star Wars-themed activities in the children’s area both days.
