(Hint: it was about a surcharge on vanity plates)

The Icon gets but one chance a year to fool viewers.

That chance was yesterday, on April 1. Sometimes we win and other times, it's rather ho-hum.

Judging by the responses from this year's story, it was, well, not even ho-hum. It was a dud.

Spoiler alert: There is no truth to the fact that a voter initiative may go on the ballot to create a surcharge on all types of Ohio vanity license plates.

2.1 inches of snow fell on March 30

March came in like a  lion, pretended to be a lamb in mid-month, and escaped like a lion, which amounted to 2.1 inches of snow on March 30.

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton boys tennis team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to visiting Defiance Monday evening.

Drew Wilson recorded the lone Pirate win at first singles by a 6-4, 6-2 score over Jamal Caesar.

Defiance won in straight sets at second and third singles, as well as number two doubles. They also rallied to win in three sets at first doubles over the Bluffton duo of Grant Klinger and Eden Nygaard.

The Pirate netmen are scheduled to host Celina Thursday.

ELIDA - The visiting Bluffton softball team defeated Elida 7-3 in a non-league contest Monday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 3-1 with the victory, while Elida fell to 4-1 with their first defeat.

Bluffton pitcher Libby Schaadt ran her record to 3-1 with a complete-game four-hitter. She allowed three earned runs and struck out seven over seven innings to earn the win.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and AAA, Findlay, will jointly host an event to help northwest Ohio motorists plan for future travel.

On Thursday, April 4, at Findlay AAA, 1550 Tiffin Ave., Findlay, the following events will occur:

Representatives from ODOT District 1 and 2 will be available from 3-6 p.m. to share upcoming highway construction work which will affect traffic in northwest Ohio.

Members of the public may come at any time during those hours and learn of planned work occurring this year on area highways.
