Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center is set to perform its first Linx surgery, a minimally-invasive procedure that brings permanent relief to patients with acid reflux.
A flexible quarter-sized device, Linx is currently the only medical device approved by the FDA as a safe and effective treatment for gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Surgeon Jason Bowersock, MD, will implant the device during a Monday procedure.

One week remains for team sign-ups for Bluffton Family Recreation Session II in-door soccer, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
Session II runs five weeks from Jan. 6 to Feb. 9. Team fee is $460 and the deadline to sign up is Saturday, Dec. 22. One date change is due to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3. Games that date after 4 p.m. move to Jan. 30.
