GROB Systems will be holding a public Open House on Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at their Bluffton facilities, 1070 Navajo Drive, The public is invited to tour the recently expanded 500,000 sq. ft. complex. Visitors will see products in operation and learn about the state-registered apprenticeship program. There will be refreshments, activities for children and an opportunity to win multiple door prizes- including outdoor benches and fire rings made in-house at GROB.

CELINA__The visiting Bluffton High School girls tennis team served up its dual match season opener Monday, August 11 at Celina with a tough 5-0 loss.

The loss dropped Bluffton to 0-1 on the young season.

Senior Hannah Nieman was forced to retire and default early in her first singles match due to a recurring shoulder injury after a 6-0 opening set defeat.

Junior Kate Klinger lost to Katie Guingrich 6-1, 6-0 at second singles.

At third singles, Pirate junior Ari Bowling fell 6-2, 6-1 to Bulldog Larissa Jackson.

LIMA __The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished a strong second at the 14-team Bluffton Pirate invitational tournament on Lima’s Hidden Creek Golf Course on Monday, August 11.

Pirate Nick Lovett sizzled on the hot day, earning tournament medalist honors with a low round of 34-36=70. Teammate Grady Coonfare finished in a four-way tie for eighth place with a strong round of 38-41=79.

In years past the Icon has attempted to interview Sergeant Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton Police Department on National Night Out, probably his busiest night of the year. For 2025, we gave him the following questions as a followup report.

Service and visitation on August 14 

Colletta Irene Mullenhour, 94, passed away August 9, 2025 at her residence. Colletta was born January 21, 1931 in Bluffton to the late Menno and Geneva (Patterson) Badertscher. On December 18, 1949 she married Roger Mullenhour who preceded her in death on April 21, 2001.

AUG 11 MEDIA RELEASE__The Findlay Community Orchestra will begin rehearsal on September 9. Membership is open to anyone interested in playing a string instrument. Some previous experience is required, like participation on orchestra in high school/ college/church.

The orchestra will meet weekly from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Great Room at First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S Main St., Findlay.
