The Icon chased down Bluffton High School track and field head coach Jason Diller for an overview of the 2022 spring season and postseason which ended on June 4 with nine BHS athletes competing at the OHSAA DIII championship meet in Columbus.

This is Diller’s first year as head coach after assisting Bill Theisen as well as having served as Cory-Rawson’s head coach for 7 years. With 65 athletes on the team, it’s a big job to coordinate workouts for so many individuals and events. He was assisted by a coaching team of:

The idiom "my cup of tea" is used to refer to something one likes to do.  For example, I love to read historical fiction and recently finished a book by one of my favorite authors. Sandra Dallas as an author is my cup of tea! I became familiar with her works when she wrote The Persian Pickle Club about a quilting club in Kansas during the Dust Bowl. I enjoy her books to the point where I order them from the library without looking at the subject. So, I put a loan request in  (thanks, Ada Public Library) for her latest novel The Little Souls without thinking about the topic.

Register by June 10 for The Roots of Our Watershed with The Quarry Farm at 6:00 p.m. on Tues., June 14 at the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main.

This event is open to adults, teens, and children with a parent or guardian present.

UPDATED: June 8 cancelled due to storm forecast.

Campus Life pool parties will be held on Wednesdays from 8:30-10:00 p.m. at the Bluffton Community Pool, 205 Snider Rd.

The cost is $3.00; snacks will also be for sale.

The events are open to any student who has finished 5th grade through 2022 graduates.

UPDATE: Because of the forecast for rain, this event has been moved to Greenhorn, 112 Vine St.

The Jerry Szabo Trio will perform beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 8.

The event was orignially planned for the alley next to Roots. Stay tuned for future outdoor events in the alley.

Greenhorn serves internationally inspired plant-based food that is made from scratch using seasonal, organic, and locally sourced ingredients.
