U.S. Census test sessions this month at Bluffton Public Library
Persons interested in positions with the U.S. Census will be interested to know that there are test sessions for potential employees set at the Bluffton Public Library.
Those dates and times are:
2 p.m., Feb. 6
5 p.m., Feb. 11
2 p.m., Feb. 13

Carlen said that the pay for this area of the country for an enumerator (census data taker) is $12.25/hour + $.50/mile reimbursement. Federal benefits (food stamps, WIC, etc.) are not affected due to the temporary nature of the Census positions.
Hiring will continue until the end of February.
Hiring is the main concern for now because of the lack of response from interested applicants.
From March until July the concern will be the lack of response from individuals to fill out there Census Questionairres.
A brief overview of the decennial census and its benefits
o Apportion the seats in the House of Representatives.
o Draw state legislative districts.
o Distribute more than $300 Billion annually in Federal, State, Local, and Tribal funds.
o Evaluate the success of community programs.
o Identify populations that might be open and responsive to new services.
o Determine sites for new business.
