Lydia Guagenti wins high jump at Findlay indoor meet
Oiler High School Invitational Indoor Track Meet
Feb. 7, 2010, Findlay, Ohio
Divisions I, II, III
By Hannah Chappell-Dick
Bluffton was very well represented at an indoor track meet on Sunday, Feb. 7. Participating were many high schoolers who were members of the 2009 Bluffton track team, and a few who are new to the sport.
For the girls team, the day began on a high note with the high jump. Lydia Guagenti, 10, took first place with a leap of 5'4". Hannah Chappell-Dick, 10, took 6th with a PR of 4'10".
Chappell-Dick worked together with Sarah Flickinger, 11, Deidre Latham, 12, both of Pandora-Gilboa, and Shelby Wilson, 11, of McComb, to take first place in the 4x800m relay, with a time of 10:32.49.
Lindsey Bassitt, 12, placed fourth in the 55m hurdle finals with a time of 9.53.
As competition was tight with all three divisions present, there were other performances which did not place. Ashton Cluts, 11, ran an 8.72 in the 55m, a PR and jumped 11-09.50 in the long jump. Chappell-Dick ran a 30.06 in the 200, a SB, and a 1:06.96 in the 400.
For the boys, David Moser, 11, placed seventh in the 400m dash with a SB of 54.23. Lucas Harnish, 10, came in quickly afterwards for an eighth place finish in 54.86, also a SB.
In the 200m dash, Harnish scored 11th place with a SB time of 25.00. He also ran a 7.48 PR in the 55m dash.
Matthew Suderman, 12, and Logan Steingass, 10, added their talents to the track for the first time ever, running almost identical times in several events. In the 400m dash, they placed 21st (59.06) and 23rd (59.50) respectively. The rivalry continued during the 200m dash as Steingass edged past Suderman 20th (26.41) to 21st (26.48). In the 55m dash, Moser ran a 7.07 PR, Suderman ran a 7.57, and Steingass ran a 7.59.
