"Teach with Your Heart" book discussion March 3 at Common Grounds
Be inspired. Read "Teach with Your Heart," by Erin Gruwell and join community members for a friendly, informal discussion at Common Grounds in Bluffton at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3. Advance registration is requested. A limited number of discussion copies are available at the Bluffton Public Library.
Gruwell is a young teacher who nurtured a remarkable group of high school students from Long Beach, California. "Teach with Your Heart" picks up where "The Freedom Writers Diary" - and the movie "Freedom Writers" - left off and brings the reader up to date on where the Freedom Writers are today.
Gruwell includes lessons for parents and teachers about what she learned from her remarkable band of students as she traveled through the emotional peaks and valleys on the front lines of our nation's educational system.
"Teach with Your Heart" is the Findlay-Hancock Community Foundation 2010 CommunityREAD adult selection. Ms. Gruwell will be the key speaker at the feature event on Friday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at Central Auditorium in Findlay. A book signing will follow the event.
Author event tickets are available at Common Grounds in Bluffton and various locations in Findlay. All ticket proceeds benefit literacy initiatives. See www.community-foundation.com for more information.
Stop by the Bluffton Public Library or call 419-358-5016 to register for the March 3 discussion at Common Grounds.
