Alice Cross 1914-2010
Alice L. Cross, 95, died at 12:42 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. She was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Allen County to Francis and Ruth (Swick) Lewis. On Aug. 25, 1956 she married William Harold Cross and he died July 17, 1967.
Mrs. Cross was a nurse at Bluffton Hospital and had also worked at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She was a member of Beaverdam Church of Christ and Bluffton Senior Citizens. She graduated from Beaverdam High School and obtained her nurse's training at Bluffton Hospital.
Survivors include two nieces Peg (Bob) Amstutz of Columbus Grove and Kim (Larry) Lambert of Knoxville, Tenn.; a nephew Jim (Betty) Lewis of Ada; a step daughter Bev Houser of Roanoke, Ind.; a step son Lenny (Chris) Cross of Roanoke, Ind., and "Little Sis" Jane Schwaller of Ottoville.
She was preceded in death by a stepson Robert Cross; brothers Charles and Morris Lewis; sister in laws Martha and Lavaun Lewis; a niece Pat Lewis; and nephews Kenny and Michael Lewis.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Rev. David Thompson and Chaplain William Herr officiating.
Interment will be held in Rockport Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverdam Church of Christ or the Mennonite Memorial Home.
