Letter: Could you add a genealogy section to The Icon?
Bluffton Icon:
First, I want to congratulate you on a great website! I was excited when I found it as I was looking for information on an old school in Allen County - Diller School.
I don't think you know me. I lived in Pandora for 11 years on the family homestead. We bought the farm on which my mother was born from my Uncle Clifton Neuenschwander. It's located on Road R between Road 3 and Road 4.
During that time I was very involved in my work as a hospital administrator at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay and did not have time to pursue my passion - genealogy. I retired in 2004 and moved to Tennessee to be near my sons and their families. By the way..we brought my mother - Carrie Neuenschwander Assmann - with us and, at 104, she remains healthy and resides in a nursing home. She is minutes away from me and I see her every day. We speak a few Swiss words...I know only a few.
The point of this note is to suggest a genealogy section to be added to your content. I have a few pictures and very old Pandora High School calling cards that I would like to get into the hands of family members who would enjoy having them.
Additionally, I have pictures and documents in my files that might be of interest to folks who share the same ancestors with me. I'm sure there are documents in the community that would be of interest to me as well. The process seems possible now with the ability to scan documents and send them to your website.
I think this idea is particularly appropriate in the Bluffton/Pandora community as there are so many folks who share an appreciation of our history. Your website seems to me to be a perfect venue.
Again - congratulations on a great website and service to your community.
