Harmon Field stadium project will be re-bid
The Bluffton school board voted in a special meeting April 12 to re-bid the Harmon Field stadium renovation project after rejecting the previous bids.
According to Greg Denecker, superintendent, the initial bids on the stadium project were more than 10 percent above the preliminary estimate. The renovation is expected to total about $120,000.
He told The Icon that the cost of demolishing the stadium would be more than the cost of renovating it. Harmon Field stadium was building during the Great Depression in 1936. Several fixes to the stadium have taken place over the decades. If the proposed renovation takes place, it will be the most significant in the stadium's history.
