Female singer-songwriter next performer on Town Hall series
Gina Holsopple is the next performer on the Town Hall Concert Series, sponsored by the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick of the committee.
Holsopple, a singer-songwriter based in central New York, will perform at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 29, in the third floor of the town hall. Admission is by donation.
Holsopple has performed at festivals and coffee houses, and has toured extensively, including a three-month national tour which took her from New York to Seattle and back. She has produced six CDs. Her latest one Unless includes the song "Love Letter," Winner of the New Song Contest, Walnut Valley Festival.
"Growing up in many places, from Ohio to Kansas, music has always been a part of Gina's life," said Chappell-Dick. "She began singing with her family at age three, and learned guitar through long evenings of music-making."
Voice and guitar are her main performance instruments but she can play a myriad of instruments including: piano, bass, mandolin, violin, and mountain dulcimer.
She graduated from Goshen College (Indiana), with an inter-disciplinary degree in music, women's studies and anthropology. She spent her years in Indiana highly involved in campus activist organizations. Her passion for issues of social justice seeps into the words and music she writes.
Holsopple entertains using both her down-home style and her lyrics, which have been commended by reviewers and fans.
