University academic awards given April 27
Bluffton University will host its annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Students to be honored include graduating seniors in the Honors Program and those who have completed departmental honors projects, including Thea Bilowich of Bucyrus, who will give a brief presentation on her project in communication. Graduating C. Henry Smith Scholars and Pi Delta inductees will also be recognized.
Departmental award recipients include Alycia Althaus of Findlay, who will receive the Distinguished Performer in Music Award and will perform on her clarinet, accompanied by Anna Stembler-Smith, adjunct piano instructor at the university.
Among the other academic awards are: in business, the Wall Street Journal Award and the Financial Executive International Award; in music, the Russell A. Lantz Choral Award, the Instrumental Music Award and the Music Teachers National Association Student StAR Award; and in art, the Art Show Juror's Awards of Distinction.
Also presented to students will be the John D. Unruh Award, C. Henry Smith Peace Oratorical Awards, the Naomi Brenneman Prize and the Jim Satterwhite Award in Peace Scholarship and Activism.
Satterwhite, professor of history and political science, will be recognized and granted emeritus status during the forum.
