Bluffton becomes Ohio's first "Fair Trade Town"
By Austin Arnold, BGSU Icon intern
May is the month where we see weekend tributes to mothers and veterans, but it also celebrates something that is a little less known. Every second Saturday in May marks World Fair Trade Day, which will land on the 8th this year.
Ten Thousand Villages, one of Bluffton~Ac^a'not^a"cs biggest fair trade shops, will be celebrating World Fair Trade Day, and throughout the whole month, by offering free coffee samples on Saturdays throughout May.
On the 8th and 22nd Ten Thousand Villages will have some other free gifts as well for people stopping by the shop. Aphaphanh Nussbaum, who is the manager of Bluffton~Ac^a'not^a"cs Ten Thousand Villages, describes fair trade as a green way of doing business.
~Ac^a'notA"A lot of the products that are made and sold are recycled from something we would discard,~Ac^a'not^A
