National Kiddie Tractor Pull comes to Bluffton in June
A National KiddieTractor Pull is part of this year's Hometown Amerifest, planned in Bluffton in late June.
Amerifest is sponsored by Bluffton Lions Foundation, Bluffton-Pandora Rotary Club and Relay for Life. It is a weekend that combines the Festival of Wheels, Freedom Festival and Cancer Walk.
The kiddie tractor pull is open to youth ages 3 to 10 and will take place Saturday, June 26. Registration is from 1 to 2 p.m. on Vine Street, Bluffton. The tractor pull begins at 2 p.m.
The "pull" is sponsored by the Bluffton Lions Foundation and an anonymous donor.
Here is how the event works:
It is 1/10th scale size using pedal tractors and a scale size weight transfer sled. The pull lane is 30 feet in length.
Contestants pull a sled with a pedal tractor. As contestants proceed down the pull lane, the box moves forward transferring the weight from the wheels to the pan, which makes it harder to pull. Weight is loaded into the box until a winner is named in each class.
The first three youth to win in each age class are invited to pull at the Grand National Tractor Pull held in January each year in conjunction with Power Show Ohio.
