Mediation training available at Bluffton this weekend
Bluffton University will offer mediation training for Bluffton students, faculty and staff and community members Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, and Friday and Saturday, May 21 and 22.
The sessions will be held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays in Centennial Hall. Training is free for Bluffton students, faculty and staff and $100 for community members.
"We are providing this seminar to members of the community to help them improve how they work through conflict," says Janet Mitchell, the university's mediation coordinator. "Participants will learn their individual communication styles and a variety of effective communication skills. After being introduced to the mediation process, they will role-play as mediators and as participants in mediating neighborhood and other disputes."
Additional sessions are scheduled for Aug. 13-14 and 20-21; Sept. 17-18 and 24-25; and Nov. 5-6 and 12-13.
To register, contact Mitchell at 419-358-3068.
