Trevor Meyer part of Apollo team going to Kansas City
Trevor Meyer, Bluffton, a junior in the Manufacturing Engineering Tech program at Apollo Career Center, will travel to Kansas City, Mo., in June to compete in the National SkillsUSA Competition.
Meyer is one of a three-member team who achieved best in the state status in the Automated Manufacturing Category. The team used software programs Inventor and MasterCam to draw parts, and then produced the parts working from two blueprints on a CNC machine.
They were given two change orders and were required to start the process all over. The team was given four hours for the skill event, and completed it with a half hour to spare.
Trevor was also selected to be one of the students present during the Governor's Candidate visit to Apollo Career Center. This year, Apollo has 28 students from many different areas competing at the national level in skill events.
