Here's the BFR summer camp schedule
BFR has announced its summer camps for this year. Information follows:
Elementary-age Day Camps
Three, weeklong day camps will be offered by BFR this summer. The camps will include a mixture of games, outdoor activities, nature projects and crafts designed for youth that have completed kindergarten through grade5. Camp #1 will be held the week of June 14, Camp #2 will be held the week of June 21 and Camp #3 will be held the week of August 2. Cost per camp is $80 for the week, or $55 just for the morning session (8:30am-noon) or $40 just for the afternoon session (11:30-5PM).
The Afternoon Session is also open to youth that are participating inother sport camps and may need full-day coverage. Camp #1 will run the same week as the Little Pirate Boys Basketball Camp, Camp #2 runs the same week as the BHS youth Tennis Camp, and Camp #3 runs the same week as the Challenger Soccer Camp. BFR will provide transportation from the high school camp location on each day of camp.
Camp Staff for 2010 will include Maranda Miller, Amy Dahl, Evan Skilliter, Kelly Honse and Carole Enneking. Since there are no set themes for each week of camp, the activities will vary with the intent to keep the participants outside and active as much as possible. The campers will take advantage of the indoor BFR facilities as well as taking hikes to nearby locations. The atmosphere will be" informal structure" and will include some camper directed activities.
Pre-school Adventure Camps
Children who are 3 1/2 to 5 years of age are invited to register for anAdventure Camp this summer. Adventure Camp is a mini-camp experience for young children that includes games, crafts and snacks. Each session meetsweekly for four weeks from 9:30am-11am with drop-off and pick-up at BFR.
Cost for each session will be $45 ($30 BFR members). Campers will "hike"to the Shelter House for their weekly activities (weather permitting). Camp director for the third year will be Kelly Honse, BFR staffinstructor.
Session 1 will be held on Tuesdays in June beginning June 8. Session 1will feature Prince and Princess themes (Tiana and Naveen, Ariel and Eric, Jasmine and Aladdin, plus Cinderella and Prince Charming). Session 2 will feature Sports and Games and run on Thursdays in June, beginning June 10 and ending July 1. Sports to be featured will be kickball, tee ball, soccer, football, scavenger hunts and water fun. Session 3 will meet on Thursdays beginning July 22 and ending August 12. Session 3 will feature the seasons of Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer as the weekly themes.
Registration is limited to 12 children in each session, so earlyregistration is encouraged.
New Gym and Swim Option
Parents with children ages 2 to 6 years are welcome to participate inBFR's Gym and Swim program this summer. Two sessions of Gym and Swim are scheduled to be held from 4:30PM-5:50PM on Monday and Wednesday nights.
Session 1 will run June 9,14,16, 21 and 23; Session 2 will meet July
21,26,28, August 2 and 4. Cost for each session will be $40 ($25 BFR
members).
As part of gym and swim, participants and parents will be involved in 30 minutes of structured play activities at BFR then travel to the Bluffton swimming pool for a 45-minute swim lesson. The swim lesson will require an adult in the water with each child. Directing this program will be Kelly Honse, a certified swim instructor.
