Bluffton kindergarteners visit Maple Crest
On May 28, 44 kindergartners, from the two afternoon classes at Bluffton Elementary School, were invited to Maple Crest for an intergenerational activity, in honor of Older Americans' Month. Click here for more photos.
They were accompanied by their two teachers, Karen Luginbuhl and Susan McKinley, as well as the bus driver, Judy Blume.
The children participated in an interactive skit with three clowns, Debsie (Debbie Mohr, activities coordinator at Maple Crest), Josie (Joanne Avers, mother of Debbie Mohr) volunteer at Maple Crest, and Rosie (Maple Crest duplex resident).
The program continued with the children entertaining the residents with five delightful and energetic songs, and a presentation of special cards for Older Americans' Month given to each resident present.
All then shared conversation over ice cream sundaes.
"It was a great celebration of life - a closing event for the month's theme of Age strong! Live Long!" according to Julie Stratton of MHCO.
